Surgical Peanuts or Peanut Sponges are one of the consumable items used in various surgeries, and their main usage is separating the adherent tissues and control bleeding during surgery. What is Peanut Sponge?

Peanuts are balls made of bandages and compressed gauze used to separate adherent tissues during general, orthopedic, abdominal surgery, etc. due to their hardness.

The peanuts (zizi), like bandages and medical gauze, has produced from 100% natural and refined cotton in compressed balls and according to the structure of its raw material, it’s high absorption.

Peanut sponges produce in different sizes, so using each size depends on the place of usage and the surgeon’s discretion.

How to use peanut sponges

To use peanuts, after opening the package on the surgical table, pick up one of the peanuts from the counting card with forceps, moisten it with the solution, and pull it on the desired part to separate.

To separate tissues, a surgical blade, scissors, and in some cases, fingers may also use, but each of these methods might be very dangerous.

So, the most suitable method for separating tissues is using surgical peanuts.
