Disposable Wound Protector (8 cm)
Although surgeons pay close attention to control surgical site infections, the infections are still frequent postoperative complications that endangers the patient’s safety and increases the cost of postoperative health care. Therefore, disposable wound protectors (surgical incision protectors) are suitable and necessary to support the protection of the incision.
What is disposable wound protector?
At the beginning of surgery to reach the main site of surgery for proper vision and space, the tissues of the path and other lateral tissues should separate. For this purpose, a tool called a disposable wound protector used. Due to the type of surgery, location of the surgery and the choice of surgeon, many different types of retractors facilitate this task.
Some types of retractors are automatically located and fixed on site. These retractors are mostly used in cases where more field of view and less movement are expected. Other types of retractors are using manually by people in the surgical team.
Due to the location and type of vision required, the surgical team assistants locate one or more manual retractors at the site to improve the surgeon’s vision of the surgical site.
Functions of surgical wound protector (surgical incision protector)
Disposable wound protector or surgical incision protector helps the surgical team with two functions:
- After opening the surgical site, the retractor polymer coverage (surgical incision retractor), is placed inside the surgical incision site, and due to the lower and upper rings cover the surgical site up to the sterile drape. Putting this retractor around the surgical incision creates a perfect 360 degrees of vision.
- After putting the upper and lower rings in position, these rings stretch the walls of the retractor and then the wall of the surgical site, which opens the area for a better vision of the surgical team.
AJP disposable wound protector (Small)
Disposable surgical wound protectors is one of the simplest products that has reduced many difficulties such as rupture and abrasion of tissue and organ. These products provide better vision and access for the surgeon.
AJP disposable wound protector consists of 2 rings that are connected by a flexible and very high resistance polymer wall (polymer film).
The upper ring to maintain the retractor`s shape in surgical incision is designed with high strength and in proportion to the height of the wound wall, the retractor`s height adjustment is done. The lower ring is completely flexible and can be placed inside the surgical site.
The Asia Jarah Pishro Co. has produced these retractors in three sizes: 8cm, 12cm, and 20cm diameter.
Small size covers 2.5 to 6 cm incisions, medium size covers 5 to 10 cm incisions and large size covers 10 to 18 cm incisions.
The following sizes are commonly used for various surgeries:
- Colon and Rectal Surgery
- Open surgery of Colon resection (8,12,20 sizes)
- Open gastric bypass surgery (12,20 sizes)
- General Surgery
- Groin hernia repair (8,12 sizes)

- Opening surgical site and creating a proper vision for the surgeon automatically
- Opening the surgical site in all directions 360 degrees
- Produced in various sizes
- Ability to adjust the height of the manual retractor due to the wall thickness of the incision site in different surgeries and different patients
- Ability to stretch the polymer wall and create a good vision without damaging the incision wall
- High wall strength due to high tensile strength for resistance to perforating and tearing
- Very convenient and fast performance
- Available in disposable and sterile form

How to use surgical wound protectors?
- First, collect the lower ring to insert into the surgical incision.
- After located the lower ring between the skin layers and the internal organs, the upper ring folds inwards to attach the polymer film to the edges of the incision and the upper ring is placed on the skin surface.
- Finally, the polymer film covers the edges of the cut tissue well and protects the wound edges against contamination like a protective layer.
