Fluoroscope Cover (C-Arm cover)
C-Arm or Fluoroscopy device is an X-ray imaging scanner. Its C-shaped arm has caused it to be called C-Arm. This arm is connected to the X-ray source and its detector. This device has radiographic abilities and is also used for imaging during surgery. A fluoroscope cover (C-Arm cover) should be used for reduced infections during surgeries.
This system produces X-Ray images in real-time with very high resolution. Therefore, the device makes it possible for physicians to observe radiography of the site during many surgeries and imaging processes and to correct necessary corrections quickly.
Applications of C-Arm (Fluoroscopy Device)
Fluoroscopy devices are used in many surgeries and diagnostic procedures, some of them are referred below:
- In orthopedic surgeries to better diagnose and repair the fracture, inserting screws and plates, checking the correct location of the prosthesis.
- In spinal surgeries to better diagnose and repair the dislocations and fractures of the vertebrae, inserting prosthesis in the spine and neck.
- In urological surgeries and lithotripsy surgeries to access the site of the stone and send the probe accurately to the relevant location.
- In cases of missing risky gauzes, surgical instruments, and needles, diagnosis of existence or absence in the exact position and location
- Cardiac Catheterization and insertion of cardiovascular catheters for diagnosis of vascular congestion
- Angioplasty and determining the location of vascular congestion and proper placement of the stent in the required place
- Putting a pacemaker to create an assistive heart rate pulse as well as many other cases
What is C-Arm Covers (Fluoroscope Covers)?
As regards the fact that any device used in the operating room and in close or direct contact with the patient’s surgical site must be sterilized, therefore all instruments used for surgery are used sterile. But the problem is that in the case of large devices such as microscopes, Operating Lights (Sialitic lights), C-ARM devices, and some equipment such as endoscopes, sensors, probes, etc., it is not possible or difficult, or time-consuming to sterilize them and or use a special type of sterile procedure is not available in all medical centers.
The best way to solve this problem is to use barrier covers (coatings) that are sterilized and are covered on these devices so that no contamination enters the operation site through the device and the patient is operated in complete protection.
In the past, to cover these devices, permanent covers that were sewn in fabrics to fit the machine were used, and after each use, they had to be washed, disinfected, packed, and sterilized again.
These steps involve the staff of the CSR department sterilizing and wasting a lot of time. If a large number of surgeries are to be performed during the day, the sterile cover process will be costly and requires extra staff and equipment.
In addition, the fabric covers are not impermeable and moisture penetrates into them, so during surgery, if blood and secretion impact them as a result of throwing from the position of surgery or contact of the surgical team members, they will be non-sterile.
AJP C-ARM covers
- Disposable
- Using high-grade primary materials
- Sterilized by ethylene oxide gas
- Continuous quality controls during production and packaging in special bags
- Correct methods of storage and transportation
- Until the packaging is not damaged or not opened, the covers will be sterile from the time of production up to three years.
Why is it better to use a fluoroscope cover?
Disposable models of C-Arm covers are made of soft, clear, and impermeable plastic and after sterilization with ethylene oxide gas, presented in a sterile package (V-Pack) that is safe and secure. These covers don`t have the disadvantages of using permanent covers.
Ease of installation and most importantly their impenetrability, encourages the medical staff to use disposable covers.
The covers were produced by Asia Jarah Pishro Co. in addition to all the mentioned features, are latex-free and made of clear and high-quality polyethylene.
Insertion of C-Arm Cover
AJP Fluoroscope covers produced by Asia Jarah Pishro Co. consist of two parts of soft and flexible polyethylene film that can be easily folded. These have the ability to change position and cover the entire c-shaped arm of the C-arm device in different models of this device.
The smaller piece is able to cover the lower arm and the larger piece is able to cover the upper arm. There are also a number of adhesive straps (tapes) for simple fixing of the cover on the C-Arm, which helps to install the cover more easily on the device.
