What is a Dressing set?
A dressing set is an adjuvant used to heal and prevent further damage to wounds. Pansement (“dressing” in English) is a French word that means to fill and cover injuries with a medical pad and bandages to prevent pollution and infection.
Dressing sets are different from regular dressings. When a wound covers with a simple bandage, there is a chance of infection at the wound site, because doing the dressing needs some sterile instruments to do it.
The AJP sterile dressing set is a complete package for dressing, containing instruments and materials for it. As result, the chance of infection reduces to a minimum; because the bandages and gases used in the set are all sterile.
Depending on the type, severity, and location of the wound, the AJP dressing set can have different purposes, although all purposes are used to heal and prevent further damage to the wounds.
Why should we use a dressing (or suture) set?
The purpose of wound dressing is to facilitate wound healing, prevent infection, prevent bleeding, aid in the wound healing process, insulate the temperature of the wound environment, maintain wound moisture, and protect the wound from physical injury.
Wounds or injuries that sutured in the sterile conditions, controlled risk of infection due to decrease exposure to a variety of microbes; so Sterile dressing sets are in use to prevent infection and rapid wound healing.
Today, these sets are usually designed and made disposable.
