Martin Surgical Light Handle Cover

Surgical lights or Operating lights are necessary for surgery; So that today, surgery is rarely possible without the use of surgical lights. There are many types of surgical lights, some of them are attached to the ceiling of the operating room and some of them can be used as portable. The covers that are used to prevent contamination of the surgical light handle are called sterile surgical light handle covers. Features of Surgical Light

The main feature of surgical lights is to create light such as daylight so that it prevents color errors and creates natural and cool light. Due to the proximity of these lights to the operating site, as well as the surgeon and the surgical team, it is necessary for these lights to use cold light that does not change the ambient temperature. Therefore, special types of lamps are used in the construction of these lights. 1- Adjusted by a circular nurse

Since the circular nurse should not in any way deal with any of the members of the surgical team who are sterile, and any contact non-sterile people and equipment will cause non-sterility and contamination of the team and the surgical environment, even if the smallest part of this person’s clothes collides with a member of the surgical team, that person is obliged to change sterile clothes, so the surgical process is interrupted.

2– Use of sterile accessories

Over the years, there are some ways to help this and make it easier (to adjust the operating room lights), which we will mention below:

Due to the problems mentioned above, manufacturers of surgical lights have had to try to make sterilizable handles or Sterile covers to be installed on the handles.

Therefore, the handle of surgical lights can be separated and placed in a sterile process or use disposable sterile covers, which makes it possible for the surgeon to easily adjust the surgical lights without the help of a circular nurse.

Challenges of  light handle sterilization

Sterilizable handles also have disadvantages that need to mention:

• Expensive prices of this equipment and imposing high costs to medical centers
• Different manufacturers, produce variable shapes and sizes of handles for their surgical lights and, they can use them alone for their own. So, there hasn’t been common use.
• The process of washing and disinfection, drying, packaging, and sterilization needs to a long time.
• Therefore, the steps of preparing and sterilizing are very costly.

Today, to solve this problem, another solution is designed and implemented, which has made the work much more appropriate. In the following, we will provide explanations about this. One of these solutions is the use of disposable surgical light handle covers.

What is a disposable surgical light handle cover?

In recent years, to improve the use of surgical lights, disposable plastic covers have been designed and produced, which has made the work very easy for the surgical team. These coatings are called disposable light handle covers.

Surgical light handle cover is a cover of one or more pieces of plastic is preferably transparent without gaps, holes, and lesions and in a sterile package that is easily installed on the handle of the light.

These covers as a protective layer, prevent and protect light handle from direct contact with the surgeon’s hand or surgical team during adjusting the light with this part, which is not sterile.

Therefore, with the recommendation of a number of medical centers, we decided to do our best to solve this problem. After extensive research and studies, by making changes in the main and general model, we were able to produce another form of disposable covers that can be used for this model and similar devices.

These covers are produced for a general model with code: 1190, and for the new design (larger handles) with code: 1191 and have the necessary licenses from the National medical devise Directorate, which guarantees the authenticity of the product 100%.
